I've always been more of a fan of eating...

The eight of us went to one of the local Ward Offices for a cookery class, which must rate as one of the more surreal experiences so far. We were joined by some ladies from Daiwa Securities and a couple of our teachers from language school (all of whom are also female...). The lesson wasn't really geared towards gaijin though and the English recipe they gave us was about 25% comprehensible.

I was the only gaijin, and the only bloke, in my group of six, so I was allowed to chop some strange vegetables and sprinkle egg over something. This strategy worked perfectly - with five people who knew what they were doing we were easily the fastest group and the food was delicious. It certainly inspired me to do some proper cooking for myself - particularly the miso soup, which I reckon is just about manageable...

Watch this space! Or come and visit and let me cook for you (if you're brave enough).
